I made it to Georgia, Rockmart to be specific, yesterday with a fairly routine drive with a couple of slowdowns for construction and of course, the last hour snarl of traffic. No matter how many times I do it, I'm always surprised at the lack of what seems a direct route from north Atlanta to Rockmart.
We spent the evening catching up and visiting with Denise and family and then looking at the travel books and information we had put together so far for the trip. We have come to the conclusion that when the travel book excitedly reports the appearance of a roadside marker or bridge, that may be a general indicator of the thrill level this route is going to include. We expect a lot of corn, many bridges inscribed with the word Lincoln, several Lincoln cafes/diners, and with hopeful anticipation, some good pie.
Today, while Debby puts in her last day of work before vacation at the Cedartown Library (where she helps the patrons spell, carry their books to the car, and dispenses advice about good books), I'm taking it easy. I had a morning walk with Leslie, followed by my core exercises (at least I've done them once while on vacation) and a leisurely shower. Daisy was not impressed with my exercise music.
We head off in the morning.
