Saw 6 states today*

Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri.

Of course, this travel isn't part of the Lincoln Highway. It's just getting us there. It was a long drive, but mostly interesting with good scenery. There was one heavy downpour, but it only lasted about 5 minutes.

Driving along, there are many sights that amuse and some that amaze. We typically don't try to take photos when something pops up as we drive, but some definitely leave an impression. The sheer number of billboards dedicated to advertising personal injury attorneys is staggering with Alexander Shunnarah possibly holding the record for the highest number of signs, even more than South of the Border. But perhaps the most head-shaking sight today was a relatively new silver Yukon XL, that had clearly been in an accident involving the length of the passenger side with dents from end to end still driving down the road (at interstate speeds) with likely a bent frame (judging by the cattywampus tilt of the back door), industrial-strength saran wrap beginning at the front passenger corner and going all the way around to the back driver's side, missing backlights, and finally, a hole about as big around as a bushel basket in the front windshield just in front of the driver. We anticipated parts flying off at any moment or in any direction.

We made it to West Plains, Missouri. We hope tomorrow will take us to Omaha, Nebraska with a quick stop for a hello and hug with Karla and Margie in St. Joseph, Missouri.

*Only Rock City/Lookout Mountain offers more (seven).
