End of the Road

Saturday was a geocaching morning on the way to Columbus with Debby locating caches sufficiently ahead of us on our route that we could detour to them and still be heading in our general direction. Then the both of us actually trying to locate them once we got in the general vicinity. We had mixed results. We mostly found the ones we stopped for, but there were a few that there was no good place to pull off the road safely and one where the po-po were on the scene so we thought better of stopping there.

We enjoyed Saturday afternoon and evening with Michael and Amy. They were following recipes for smash burgers with shake shack sauce so we were combining two good burger chains. The result was a very smoky house and some very tasty burgers!

After a yummy breakfast out (Debby had french toast because she said it was the last meal of vacation and soon would be returning to keto style food, so she was having some bread. Protein could wait for tomorrow.), we dropped Debby at the airport for her flight home.

I stayed in Columbus to enjoy a longer visit. I tried to recreate a couple of the tapas recipes Debby and I had enjoyed on the road for dinner Monday night. They were good, but need some further development. I also made some chocolate chip cookies just because. Tuesday I visited a local Amazon Fulfillment Center for a tour. Watching those robots and conveyor belts, plus the humans move products in and out of an 850,000 square foot was really a trip! You should check this link to see if there is a fulfilment center near you (or somewhere you are travelling) and take the tour. It's about an hour-long (at least the one in Etna, Ohio) and is free. Both entertaining and educational.

Tuesday evening, we went to one of the local places they frequent that hosts trivia on Tuesday nights. Amy has lots of smart and friendly chums so it was a tight and fun competition. Even though our team was the smallest in number (just we three), we held our own, coming in third and earning the generous sum of $5 off our bar tab!

It was great to see the new deck (ground and 2nd story) and hot tub they have put in, making their home into even more of a welcoming haven.

When Amy and Michael rousted for work this morning, I hit the road. I'm home.
