It's hard to imagine using all the corn we saw yesterday. Growing up in Illinois and travelling around that state as an adult, I've seen lots of fields of corn. But this is a whole new level. We drove about 165 miles (from Ames to Dewitt) yesterday and unless we were within a town's city limits (and sometimes even then), there were fields of corn and soybeans as far as you could see. It's really pretty.
Stopped to take a picture of the first marker we came to. Many (2500 to 3000) of these markers were erected by Boy Scout troops.
Restored 1923 service station at Niland's Corner; probably how it looked in the '40s.
Toured Mowry Irvine Mansion in Marshalltown (after Maid Rite for lunch). Extra supports needed for the front porch because of the tornado on July 19, 2018. (
Drone footage from last year.)
Favorite bridge so far on the Lincoln Highway in Tama.
