Ever since the guide on our best of NYC tour pointed out the pier that is the inspiration for Neil Diamond's song, "Coming to America," it has been running through my head.
The tour, an entire circuit around Manhattan by boat, was stuffed with sights and facts including both sides of the rivers -- Hoboken and Wehawken NJ, Ellis, Liberty, Governor's, Staten, Long and Roosevelt Islands, and Brooklyn, Queens, and The Bronx Burroughs, plus tons of neighborhoods like Chelsea, Greenwich and Harlem.
We stumbled onto and stopped at an international street festival for a snack on the way back to our hotel. Not sure of the names of what we tried, but all tasty.
The afternoon and early evening were filled with travel to Brooklyn (by subway) and a pizza at Juliana's. It was WORTH the trip! Cooked in a 900 degree coal-fired oven, it's a whole different creation than we get from Domino's or Pizza Hut.
Walking back to Manhattan across the iconic Brooklyn Bridge helped digest our pizza and once again explore and admire that famous NYC skyline.
